Givi E43NTL-ADV Installation on Wmoto RT3 and Mini Review

 

Honestly speaking, the under-seat storage compartment for Wmoto RT3 isn't the largest in its class, and definitely not as large as how it has been advertised. To fit my half-face helmet, I need to put up some effort to deliberately squeeze the seat-lid in order for it to close properly. 

The easiest way to extend my RT3 carrying capacity is to install a top box since the mounting bracket is already provided with the bike. Top box is very convenient for touring and daily use, because it gives us the freedom to carry more items on the go.

Among all motorcycle luggage brands, I choose the Italian accessory maker, Givi, specifically the E43NTL-ADV model because of its price point and simple design. I bought mine online at only RM420 for the ADV version which comes with backrest, luggage net, rubber tray and also universal mounting plate.

Alternatively, if you do not need those backrest, luggage net and the rubber tray, you can save some cash and go for the non-ADV option (Givi E43NTL) which I believe will cost RM100 cheaper. 

I like the practicality of this box because it can fit my full-face Arai TX-4 even with its peak on. In summary, I find this box is very suitable for my personal taste. It is lightweight, does look good on scooter without being overkill—unlike most aluminium boxes that scream GS.

The installation

For my scenario, I need to purchase additional 2 items:

• 5 pieces of M6 Bolt 45mm

For whatever reason, the set that I've received doesn't include the steel plate holder. Thus, the bolts that Givi provided is simply too short for Wmoto thick mounting plate. That's why I need to purchase longer bolt with 45mm in length to tighten correctly.

The next step is to mount the universal Givi plate to the RT3 rack, by tightening all 5 points. The first 2 points can be done by aligning the hole and the plate. The other 3 points require steel plate that I purchased as additional.

Make sure that you don't forget to include the steel washer that would precisely fit into the holes. The last step is to install the cover with 2 small screws that Givi provided. 

This this plate, you can easily mount-on/off your top box with the provided keys. This mechanism allows you to carry your box to the hotel room when you're touring.
