Welcoming the Wmoto RT3: First 200km on Southwest Peninsular Coastal Riding Impression

The night before picking up my new bike, I have trouble getting a good night's sleep as there are mixed feelings of anxiety and excitement. Firstly, my CB500x is in excellent running condition, thus, it’s fully loaded with three panniers–and all the tits and bits that makes it ready for touring. I feel guilty towards my bank account as I am spending this Wmoto RT3 in cash. I also worried that this RT3 couldn’t meet my expectations and the possibility of getting buyer's remorse.

On 12/02/2022, my wife and I drove to Alor Gajah as we found a ready stock with a very good price there. Unfortunately, during our mid-way drive the lady boss notified us that the bike is not ready for collection due to the unresponsive JPJ’s registration website system on Saturday. Since we’re already halfway there, I persuaded my wife to just go there to check on the bike despite it’s a waste of petrol and time. However, this feeling of getting a new toy is hard to contain.

We arrived at Alor Gajah at 4.30pm. The lady boss, Ms Soo was so surprised because she already told us not to come. Anyway, she’s kind enough to show me the paperworks that the K1 form is pending. She told me actually I could bring the bike home, only if I dared, since I’m making full payment. However, I politely declined as I couldn’t stomach the risk if anything would happen to me or the bike because the bike is unregistered. Insurance companies would reject my claims, and the need to play hide-and-seek with police is simply not worth the excitement.

I proceed to check on my bike for any scratches and look for possible manufacturing errors. Everything seems good to the eyes and quite impressed by the build quality at this price point. I do not regret my decision of not getting the Nmax after I sat on it. It feels quite posh and the dashboard really impresses me.

We went to a Cendol place after as we refused going back either on an empty hand or stomach. We stopped by at Simpang Ampat–precisely at Cendol Bakar Simpang Ampat Alor Gajah for some sweet bites. My wife is having her Cendol Jagung while I’m having Bakso with Coconut Shake.

After arriving home, I quickly plan a riding trip with my scooter on Monday. The plan was to ride from Alor Gajah to Pantai Puteri and ride upward to explore the beaches alongside the coastal line to Port Dickson before making a trip back home. However, the actual route was cut short with a highway from Linggi district to Kuala Lumpur because it’s already dark, thus it’s raining heavily.

Valentine’s day

By pure coincidence, the registration date of my scooter falls on Valentine’s day. I’ll be having a long date with my new bike instead of my wife. During the said date, my wife dropped me at Alor Gajah as I plan to ride it back to Kuala Lumpur. Of course, I’ll take a long detour on the coastal and rural roads before heading home.

I also brought an aftermarket GPS bar bracket and phone holder which I had purchased online to anticipate this first ride. The shop technician helped me to install without any additional charges. I then proceed to sign the paperwork and pay the remaining balance.

Here's my new bike with only 2km on it:

I rode around without any direction to familiarize myself with the bike for around 20km. It took awhile, but once I got the rhythm and dynamicsthe riding experience was overall a pleasant one, except one or two hiccups, which I will reveal later on.

As soon as I found a petrol station, I topped up my fuel. From empty to full tank, it'll cost around RM47 for 14,6 liter of RON97 fuel. The full tank fuel capacity is 17 liter, it's the largest in its class for the 250cc scooter segment.

I then continue to ride onto Pantai Puteri, Tanjung Bidara and the coastal road, took the rural plantation road of Pedas - Linggi, and end up on the North South highway back to Kuala Lumpur.

Arrived Pantai Puteri, this beach is quite clean to a certain degree. Do you notice that a couple having their moment on this V-day?

The night market at Tanjung Bidara Beach. I then rode back home in the dark, I don't take any photos because it's quite dark and scarry especially the pedas linggi plantation road where's no street light. Thus it's raining, and having a light tint on my visor does makes it worse.
