Unexpected Twist: Goodbye Nmax 155 V2
It’s a
dilemma, a harsh awakening or rather an impulsive decision that I am about to
make. I am canceling my booking on the reliable, light, and nimble Japanese
made Yamaha Nmax to purchase a Wmoto RT3 instead which I am lucky enough to
find a ready stock at a very good price.
Here’s why.
The price and
package offered by the Wmoto RT3 is hard to beat. For a value minded (or rather
say calculative) person such am I, I think it is a no-brainer.
Wmoto stands for Wawasan Moto, it's a home-brand owned by Mforce—made and distributed by them. However, the RT3 itself is a brand-new maxi-scooter in Malaysia based on the Korean made Daelim XQ250. I believe there are certain kind of bilateral agreement or collaboration in order for this to happen.
Did you know that Daelim used to produce motorcycle under Honda license for the South Korean market?

The Wmoto RT3 is indeed a new product in the Malaysian market. This would be my first brand-new bike purchase from a brand that I am not familiar of. In terms of reliability, it's hard to tell as the bike is in its early stage of life. At this point of writing, the bike is barely one year old in the market; and the owner's review from Facebook and other online sources is yet to be proven in the long-run.
I am the type of guy that will always go for Japanese products because of their concept to pursue simplicity. Simpler means fewer moving parts, less moving parts means less problems—less problems means more reliable.
Unlike the Japanese’s domination in my household, I rarely do own a Korean’s products except for a rice cooker made by Dimchae that is well-made and proven to be super reliable. However, for a motorcycle it is another story for another time that only time will tell.
I’ve been
following this RT3 bike for quite some time. To my surprise, this model has quite
a large following on the Facebook group, despite the launch is not so long ago
in March 2021. It’s also hard to find a ready stock to such a degree from the
official Mforce dealers. This bike gives me the vibe that it has the potential to shadow the success of the Benelli TRK502.
I sincerely
do hope that I made the right buying decision—not just an impulsive purchase
just because of the price offered (I get a very good price from a dealer) and it's ready
stock.
I texted this
dealer to convey my interest and genuine interest to purchase yesterday (10/2/2022). Then,
I’ve placed a booking fee today in promise to get my bike within the 1 to 2
months of timeframe (11/2/2022). My luck struck me around dinner time. The dealer texted back
saying that their stock has just arrived. There’s one immediate stock in blue, that they can offered to me.

I am shocked because I didn’t expect to get it this fast, especially not after calling multiple dealers around the town. However, my first color of choice was grey, but after given some thoughts I am fine with blue too as it matches my Arai XD-4 helmet.
I took the
offer and I’ll go pick up my new bike tomorrow.
